Private Howard M. Waters

            Private Howard M. Waters was born on May 1, 1889 in Page Center, Iowa to Elvin and Nellie Waters. His family then moved to Atkinson, Nebraska. He attended Agricultural school in Lincoln and then went to work in Wisner. Waters registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 and began serving his country on July 22, 1918.

 

Waters was said to be a generous man and a favorite to all who knew him. From his draft card we know he was a tall man with brown eyes and dark brown hair. He was working as a farm laborer in Atkinson, Nebraska before he registered for the army.

 

            Private Howard M. Waters was part of the Company M of the 333rd infantry. died in Meuse, France on October 29, 1918. He died of disease, pneumonia, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson, Nebraska.
